POWERPLANT – CRASHING CARS b/w NEVER SMILE

POWERPLANT’S BACK with two new songs: “CRASHING CARS” and “NEVER SMILE”. The new songs maintain the POWERPLANT energy–loud drum machine, blown out guitars–but they sound louder and prouder. It’s late night driving on the parkway music, especially “NEVER SMILE”. Out now on ARCANE DYNAMICS !

MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME – HAPPY 88 (NO LIMIT)

MYSAH first played this song at Drkmttr about a year and some change ago, and it’s stuck with me ever since. Some of Billy’s finest production (actually, the whole record is a masterclass), but also we’re finally getting “Do-dodo-do do”s back in 2025, courtesy of MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME. More La La Las, more Do Do Dos, come on yall. For real though, this song is very “FEED ME WITH YOUR KISS”-era MBV, with more emphasis on song structure and choruses. Incredible work from the maestro.

BLANK HELLSCAPE – DYING IN AMERICA

This song is a part of a six-year long effort that resulted in the incredible “HELL 2,” BLANK HELLSCAPE’s latest LP. “DYING IN AMERICA” is a standout from the record because of Andrew’s lyrics and the way in which he performs them. It’s insight into one person’s mental space that we all understand while living within this american hell. I’ve gotten to see BLANK HELLSCAPE so many times over the course of the past four years, and every single show has been even better than the last. They are constantly creating a hellscape that turns into a complete wash of the senses. Go see them on tour, you really will be a better person after. Also watch THIS video hahah.

PETER DARK – YOU’VE GOT ME

Another heater from the young legend PETER DARK. He’s a jack of all trades: on any given night, you can see him play guitar, next night he’s drumming, night after that he’s playing bass, all for someone different or a different band. All of the bands he is a part of are amazing: MCKAY put out an incredible record a while back, and SUPERHERO had me on the floor when they dropped their perfect debut. There’s something special in PETER’s solo music though: there’s no holding back whatsoever. “YOU’VE GOT ME” is clearly an earworm that you’ll be stuck with days to come, but it’s also a special insight into what’s coming next. I’m really stoked for what an entire album of PETER DARK songs will sound like. For now though, I’ll run this song into the ground over and over again.
