ARGUS – DOGS RUNNING FREE

by hapago

ARGUS is fully back with DOGS RUNNING FREE, Conner Sullivan’s first album since 2020. The album is abrasive, coarse, searing–everything that ARGUS is about. The title track sounds like staring at an abandoned gas station in the middle of Virginia in the middle of the summer–senses heightened, feeling like you’re being watched, and the pavement is boiling.

This feeling is evoked by the production that went into this record. Conner mixed and mastered DOGS RUNNING FREE, and it sounds incredible. If you feel overwhelmed a bit, and if you can hear a high-pitched ringing after hearing the whole record, it’s done its job.

“little man,” track six off the record, is a highlight. This one is a bit more fast-paced, with some textured bursts of noise throughout. It goes right into the next song, “absolutes (steal everything)”, which features JOSH BYRD of SKIN TENSION. The duo don’t hold back on this one–it peels the skin right off of your eardrums.

DOGS RUNNING FREE is some of Conner’s best: he furthers his attention to detail while leveling up his production skill.
